The
Coalition of Alcohol and Drug Associations (CADA) 2009 Public Policy
Conference was a great success. The focus of the conference
included prison reform, along with the need for treatment for
inmates released into the community, and ADP’s proposal for licensing
and certification that is currently in the Legislature.
Confirmed speakers included Renée Zito, Director, California Department
of Alcohol and Drug Programs, and Elaine Bush, Chief Deputy Director,
office of the Federal Receiver for the California Prison Health Care
Services.
Zito, who has focused on a comprehensive licensing and certification
plan will discuss the details of the plan as it is laid out in SB 707 by
Senator Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord)
Bush was appointed Chief Deputy Director to the Receiver for the
California Prison Health Care Services with the charge to keep the
Receiver’s “Turnaround Plan” on schedule and within scope to reduce
medical care expenses without sacrificing patient care. Bush previously
served as the Deputy Director for the Department of Mental Health and
interim Director of the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs.
